Sinus Lift

Restoring your smile is simple with our expert care. Sinus lift surgery enables safe removal of damaged upper teeth and bone grafting for lasting oral health. Schedule a consultation today to learn more.

What is a Sinus Lift?

The sinus lift procedure adds bone tissue to the upper jaw in the area of the premolars and molars. This bone grafting restores structure between the jaw and maxillary sinus cavity, allowing for future dental implants to replace missing teeth in the upper jaw. The procedure requires precision as the sinus cavity is carefully lifted to create space for the new bone.

Is Sinus Lift Surgery Right for Me?

Sinus lift surgery may be recommended if you need to replace a missing tooth with a dental implant or remove a decayed tooth in the upper jaw. This procedure is also ideal if there isn’t enough bone mass in the upper jaw to securely support a dental implant. During your visit, we’ll use Cone Beam 3D imaging to capture detailed images of your jawbone, sinus cavity, and surrounding structures, allowing us to create a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

How is a Sinus Lift Procedure Performed?

Our oral surgery team performs sinus lifts in a surgically accredited facility to ensure patient safety and comfort. Sedation options are available to keep you calm and relaxed, and we’ll discuss these with you during your consultation. Once the area is numbed, an incision is made in the gums to access the sinus cavity, which is then gently elevated to allow placement of new bone tissue. After the bone graft is secured and the sinus repositioned, sutures close the incision.

What Can I Expect After My Treatment?

After your treatment, we’ll provide instructions for caring for your mouth and discuss symptoms to monitor during recovery. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office for prompt assistance. Swelling and discomfort are expected, particularly in the first few days, but should gradually subside. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled 1–2 weeks after surgery to assess healing. Dental implants may be placed at the same time as the sinus lift or around 4–6 months afterward, once the bone graft has fully healed and integrated with the jawbone.
